Step Forward

The high street is going through a change; a wonderfully weird change. Taking on a look defined by couture labels, the high street is taking note and producing some seriously stunning high-end footwear.

Looking more like an eclectic architectural exhibition, shop floors are housing artistically beautiful designs: multifaceted details, contoured lines, metals and mirrors, and of course skyscraper heels and tower block wedges; visually confusing, structurally ingenious and astounding to look at.

It's a great look for the high street, and though it is on the rise, we are still stuck on 'safe and sensible', so this change is definitely needed to turn the everyday into the everyday gorgeous. And in keeping with the postmodernist theme of late, these aesthetically pleasing high street buys are changing the game.

There are those stores who have totally embraced the avant-garde and are leading in the style stakes, but I hope the rest catch on as there is great potential in terms of style, fabric, scope etc.

I hope the high street continue on this creative path; getting more and more weird and wonderful. Just as beautiful to look at as they are to wear.
